Avernic should not recommend a product just because it exists, ranks well, or pays a commission. Recommendations should follow fit, need, existing coverage, overlap, and risk — not affiliate revenue.
1. Affiliate relationships
No monetized product links are currently active. Every future monetized product link will be identified at or immediately adjacent to the link or recommendation. Affiliate availability, commission amounts, conversion rates, and commercial relationships do not affect eligibility, priority, or ranking.
2. Need before product
A product is recommended only after a capability gap or decision need is identified from the assessment. Avernic does not recommend products to fill affiliate inventory or because an affiliate relationship exists. Recommendations that are not supported by an identified need are not included.
3. Free alternatives
Where a free option provides comparable protection to a paid product, the free option is identified. This applies even when the paid alternative has an affiliate relationship. Free alternatives appear alongside paid recommendations, not in a separate or less prominent location.
4. Existing-product alternatives
Where a product the person already owns provides a capability comparable to a recommended addition, Avernic identifies it. A person should not be recommended a paid product that duplicates something they already have.
5. Products without affiliate programs
Products without affiliate programs are included in recommendations when they are the most appropriate option for an identified need. Affiliate availability does not filter the recommendation set.
6. Product exclusions
Products may be excluded from recommendations if they have known practices inconsistent with the privacy purpose they are sold for, if their terms create meaningful risks to users, or if the product's protection claims are not supported by available information.
7. Verification before purchase
Where a feature or benefit cannot be confirmed from assessment answers alone, the recommendation is marked Verify. Avernic does not recommend purchasing a product based on a feature the person has not confirmed is available at their subscription level.
9. Personalized recommendations
Recommendations in a report are based on the individual's assessment answers, not on a product catalog. Two people with different setups and contexts may receive different recommendations even if they use the same products.
10. Risk-context neutrality
Realistic risk scenarios in the Complete Assessment are not used to create demand for specific products. A risk scenario that does not correspond to an identified coverage gap does not generate a product recommendation.
11. Avoiding fear-based recommendations
Avernic does not use threat scenarios to create urgency for purchases the assessment does not support. High-impact scenarios that are not relevant, likely, or inadequately protected given existing controls are not used as a basis for recommendations.
12. Review dates
Product information used in recommendations includes a review date. Privacy product features, pricing, and policies change. Avernic does not guarantee that product information is current at the time a report is generated.
13. Corrections and updates
When Avernic identifies an error in a product recommendation, the recommendation logic is updated. Reports generated before a correction are not automatically revised. Material errors affecting a significant number of reports will be disclosed.
14. Reporting an error
If you believe a product recommendation in your report is incorrect, based on outdated information, or inconsistent with the criteria on this page, you can report it using the method below.
Error-reporting method: email hello@avernicprivacy.com with a short description of the recommendation and the concern.
15. Disclosure beside recommendations
Every recommendation that involves an affiliate relationship includes a disclosure. The standard disclosure text is:
